just smth short :3, spoilers for lost in starlight (2025) and k-pop demon hunters(2025)!!!
lost in starlight (2025) ⋆.˚𖦹⋆✮⋆.˚
i saw this on letterboxd, and first and foremost, THE ANIMATION IS INCREDIBLY STUNNING. the colors, how atmospheric everything was…only complaint is that the humans were drawn slightly weird BUT that does not discredit how beautiful the rest of it is. the soundtrack is very nice too, very chill yet emotional, and bonvoyage is a banger. the chemistry between the main couple was very very sweet, however, i did found the first half of the film (where their relationship is established) rushed, specially since it seemed as they were trying to balance out many things (nan-young’s trauma, jay’s whole music thing, the development of the whole spaceship thing, and the beiginning of the relationship of the two leads) and prolly since the main couple met a little too fast. despite this, the 2nd half (where nan-young goes to mars and does cool shit in spaaaaceee) was more grounded and it makes their relationship feel even sweeter :3, which truly shines in the last minutes, which dont feel like some random dramatic event you dont care about, but it IS emotional. idc if there was a very convenient script convenience at the end I AM HAPPY JAY AND NAN-YOUNG ARE TOGETHER AT THE END. very good payoff fr, and im happy that jay’s whole music thing was able to come together better with the space narrative in the 2nd half. very good if u want to see a nice romance film :3
k-pop demon hunters (2025) ♥*♡∞:｡.｡
as a former k-pop fan (im more casual rn, and pretty much the only group i follow is enhypen) MAN THIS WAS AMAZING. i got shivers multiple times with the VERY COOL AND AWESOME K-POP SONGS (for the love of god please listen to the ost) AND THE VERY COOL PERFORMANCES WITH EPIC FIGHTS (more specifically, the first and last battle. i have my narrative complaints but stylistically it fucking rocks), and im happy abt this bc the animation didnt fully convince me in the trailers as it seemed like too clean and 3d to work with the anime style influences, which also didnt go well with the choppiness (which seemed to much for the cleaness of the world) of it, BUT VERY HAPPILY THE ANIMATION OF THE FILM DIDNT SHOW THIS PROBLEMS :D!!!!!!. that being said, again this suffers the “this was rushed problem”, specially since the reveal of rumi’s half demonic nature was a bit too fast, and you could say the same for most of the dramatic events of the movie. also the other members of the huntr/x didnt had much development (it is noticable rumí was the creators favorite, i didnt say this check the forbes interview) and even if rumi’s was a bit rushed too, the change was far more gradual, but i did like her dynamic with her demon bf (i cant remember his name 😭), even if their enemies to lovers was a rushed too, their dynamic was so cute!!!! it kinda reminded me of lío and galo, who also reconcilated very quickly but still they i felt very warm when they shared their little lovey dovey moments :3. i dont think this would’ve worked as well as it did if it wasn’t bc of the animation and awesome music (THAT ALSO PLAYS A NARRATIVE ROLE. PEAK) but im happy it did work :)
