short reviews for short films
Tuesday, November 18th, 2025 09:54 pmwatched a couple this week, so here are some short reviews :3. mostly spoiler free and in case ur curious all of these films are free on yt :3
the following review will contain mentions of abuse and violence
my little goat (2018): quite a famous short film, but truly deserves its fame. the plot is surprisingly well built for such a short runtime, and i think thats largely due to its wonderful use of visual parallelisms, which subtly hint towards the story of characters we dont know much about yet, but still takes its time to build up their individual conflicts…which is seriously impressive. it has a very lovely stop motion animation, which balances the cutesy designs of its characters (smth logical as the main characters are children) with the very horrifying Horrors that happen, and the lighting…ohhh…lovely ambience. More on the topic of parallelisms, the similarities with both of the protagonists situations are very similar (as both have suffered abuse) but have WILDLY different contexts, SPECIALLY taking into account that in a interview (full disclaimer: i read this from a japanese page that was translated of the short which included what the autor has said about it…but i cant find the link yet, so take this with a grain of salt and in case this rings a bell and you happen to have the link that reminds u of this, link it and correct it if necessary), which was meant to contrast two different types of parenting and how they affect children, which only makes this more interesting imo. overall recommend A LOT :D, jst content warnings for child sexual abuse, violence, trauma, mild gore.

DA MOTHERFUCKING CHAINSAW MAAIIIID (chainsaw maid): la piba motosierra es real xd. the short has a fairly simple story, nothing too deep on that regard but efficient for the type of story it seeks to tell, which is VIOLENCEEEE :D. unlike the previous short, who also uses stop motion, the animation here isnt nearly as complex and is mostly based on modeling clay figures alongside bright sets, but still manages to have a charactheristic visual style, and ngl the clay makes the figures/GORE AND BLOOOOD look very good and meaty. again, the plot ain’t very complex, is jst a zombie invation and uhhh there’s a maid who fucking kills them with…guess what…a chainsaw :D. nice if u need to watch smth short
also been watching videos of nana825763, and yeah he’s very good :3. the “walk through of my house” one, while somewhat monotonous, had a VERY creepy climax. also i love how this dude does blood; both in this video, pokopokopikotan, the username 666 one and the pokopoko shopping one the blood looks lovely (in a “it does look meaty AND it looks like is genuinely rotting :D) and is done on very original ways (who would’ve thought to use wet tissues to show decay :D??) i would like to check more of his work, as he’s very talented and insanely dedicated (content warnings: all of the videos ive mentioned have gore and blood, SPECIALLY pokopoko shopping; username666 has disturbing abstract content, the house one has rotting spaces and blood, pokopokopikotan is basically a sexual abuse allegory…and yeah thats it lol)
