more movies ig
Monday, December 1st, 2025 07:23 amwell…i certainly didnt watch as many movies as i would like to this month, haven’t watched the ones i would like to (doukyusei, peep tv show, hanagatami, memories of underdeveloped) but anyway, i can do so later :3. soooo, as always, spoilers for zootopia 2, wild tales (2014) and rabbits (2002).
zootopia 2: man it was disappointing…very disappointing. i got very bored, the main duo had an interesting proposal for their new dynamic but its development didn’t convince me AT ALL, like judy had no consequences for her actions nor they were mildly confronted simply cause hers had good intentions, and when they were, simply nick and judy just told eachother EXPLICITLY their own personal issues, despite the fact judy’s issues were shown BY INCREDIBLY EXPLICIT ACTIONS and you could easily infer judy’s underlying feelings based on this and the previous movie. and let’s not even mention nick’s development, which was reduced to jokes, and it mostly depended on judy’s actions, but none of his reactions had proper focus lol. the overarching plot had certain plot holes, specially as the whole systemic oppression of the snakes was simply reduced to a stolen patent and framing which 1. framed the solution as just revealing the patent, as if that could magically solve racism and 2. apparently, the whole reason why the framing was really possible was because the woman who invented the patent was a snake, but then how was racism towards snakes done back then???? did it always some sort of mammal supremacy thing always existed?? im sure reptilians were always considered a minority, as the reptilian district is significantly smaller than the others in the original maps, but some expansion on this could’ve done well. despite my complaints about the plot, it somehow managed to have a satisfying narrative, and the story didn’t feel odd at any point, though i do admit the film was WAAAAYYYYY too comedic, which interfered with the emotional impact of the story.
wild tales (2014): i must admit i had a bit of a hype backlash for this, as my parents really like the movie and painted it as a incredibly entertaining film full of crazy shit…which wasn’t what happened. the movie by itself is VERY entertaining and well done on that regard, but i feel like i didn’t get much of it aside from having a lot of fun (specially with the stories of pasternak, bombita and the wedding), like i get is about revenge and all of that but…eh, i may have expected an stronger emotional impact. goes to the rewatch watchlist
rabbits (2002): first david lynch!!! i found a clip of this on the inland empire trailer and as its pretty short i got curious. positive points, it had a very effective unsettling atmosphere, mostly due to the still shots, the almost robotic acting and the unlogical conversations, which did cause me a lot of intrigue at the beiginning. however, it may be bc i got constantly interrupted while watching the movie but it got repetitive at some point, which caused it to be very boring. it still has an intriguing premise, don’t get me wrong, but i didnt really enjoy it.
