My introduction

[personal profile] musicismylife posting in [community profile] addme
Hi all, I’ve had this blog for a fairly short time, though here of late I’ve been writing in it a lot more. I created this DW only intending to write about music-related things. However, I’ve realized that I love writing about any sort of media that impacts me. I’ve also written some things about living with disabilities here too, and will probably continue doing so. I’ve also written about my healing journey as it relates to healing from horrific childhood abuse/assorted big T and little T traumas. I love all kinds of music from EDM (Electronic Dance Music) to R&B, to latin pop, to rock n roll and rap. I am a feminist, as well as a non-conformist by nature. I’m proudly a member of the LGBTQ+ community. I suppose that’s a good enough introduction for now :)

Been a few months, so I thought I'd pop in again

Name: Hi, I'm Nicole (she/her).

Age: early 40s

I mostly post about: As my journal title says, "to spit out all the butt-ends of my days and ways," (from T.S. Eliot's The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, one of my favorite poems). I've been keeping a fairly regular chronicle of my life since the early days of the internet. I had paper journals before then, but then I found MyDearDiary, and Diaryland, and then . . . Livejournal. I was there for the latter's heyday and after; I only recently stopped cross-posting there about a year ago. So, not new to this journaling thing, although some of the more experimental ways I've written have fallen by the wayside in favor of a more regular narrative flow. So, yes, mostly daily life stuff, with a sprinkling of pictures and questionnaires here and there.

My hobbies are: Reading is my main one, although to me it's more like breathing than a hobby. I enjoy cooking and baking. I want to get back into writing, but general life and medical issues have kind of put a damper on this for now. I want to learn to use my camera better. I like video games, mainly of the platformer or puzzle variety; or something cozy (I'm really enjoying the Zero Escape games right now, and pondering purchasing Tiny Bookshop).

My fandoms are: I'm not really a fandom person. I like a lot of things, but I don't think they quite rise to the level of fandom.

I'm looking to meet people who: post about their daily lives, what they are thinking about, what they like to do in their free time. I'm not on much social media anymore, so this is it. And I always did prefer the longer types of posting, hearkening back to the "slower internet," if you will, where we didn't have to think in a pithy 140 characters or what-have-you.

My posting schedule tends to be: I was trying to stick to daily, but I don't always make it there. I do try to post at least once weekly.

When I add people, my dealbreakers are: The standard -isms and -phobias are not welcome; nor are folks who are pro-MAGA (and claim they're not -ist and -phobic). Yes, there are differences of opinion, but those are things like pizza toppings and which is the best ice cream flavor, not things that will get people killed.

Before adding me, you should know: I try to comment when possible, but I always read. Same goes for you; you don't have to comment on everything, but please feel free to say something if an entry speaks to you or you want to start a conversation. Once I add you, I have a longer introduction post behind a friends-lock if you want to know more about me - I know it's hard to jump in the middle of someone's life who's been at this for awhile :-)

I have been having fun doing whatever I feel like doing

I took a week off from work. Honestly, I really needed it. It's been nice to do whatever I wanted. So... here's what I did this week!

Monday and Tuesday: I took a 2-day first aid course! I've never done any kind of first aid training, and have wanted to for years; it's been consistently on my resolutions list for like a decade. Previous job kept saying they'd pay for it and then pulling out of the deal before anything was formalized. Anyway, I decided to Just Do It. Very glad I did! I learned some super interesting things! Hopefully will never have to use any of it, but ya never know. :V

Wednesday: I took care of some Obnoxious Adult Tasks, following up on that thing I had to deal with last month when I had to get up at 5:45 AM to phone a call centre before work*. Since I didn't have to go to work, I didn't have to get up at ass o'clock to do this followup call! :V I also did some reading, had coffee with my parents, went for a massage, and cooked some curry.

Thursday: Tried out a new cake recipe - this one my mom found on youtube: Italian Lemon Cream Cake. I was originally supposed to make it for her birthday, but it was too hot to use the oven that week. Anyway, the recipe is all right. Mom really loved it, but I think it needs a few tweaks. Going to use either full-fat Greek yogourt or sour cream next time; the cake part needs some zest and possibly 4 tbsp lemon juice rather than 3; and the pan that I use will require 40-45 minutes in the oven. It's a nice recipe overall though, and I'm glad I gave it a try.

Friday: Took care of a few chores, then went down by the river to do some plein air painting. Had a good time! Not so sure about what I painted, but eh, I'm still figuring it out. (The techniques I was trying this time were probably better for acrylic tbh). Saw some birds and some chipmunks, got a sunburn, enjoyed chilling out and doing nothing much. Picked up some stuff at the library while I was at it, since that was nearby. Aaand watched a movie in the evening. (Film was The Woman in the Yard. The trailer was interesting but the movie was not. It was solidly meh.)

Saturday (Today): Did some chores. Intended to meet up with someone for coffee, but they cancelled on me, so instead I went home and worked on my IIBB fic. I'm like 1/3rd of the way through the line edits now, and feeling very so-so about this story, but at least it's getting done. In the evening, chilled out with some wine and watched C'è ancora domani|There's Still Tomorrow, which was an interesting and somewhat artsy film set in postwar Italy; it didn't feel heavy even though it was exploring some heavy themes such as sexism and domestic abuse (and probably also some historical issues that I would need more context for - politics were very present in the background). I'm still digesting it. Beautifully shot movie btw, worth a look if you enjoy cinematography.

I've been having a very good time doing really nothing much. I truly wish I did not have to go back to work on Monday, but. Well. It is what it is. :V

[personal profile] huxleyenne posting in [community profile] addme_fandom
Name: Risa (She/Her)
Age group: Mid-30s
Country: United States (sigh...)
Subscription/Access Policy: I'm hosting a public writing journal centered around original fiction on [personal profile] huxleyenne. Fanfic/fannish interest is posted on Tumblr/AO3 (same username). My genres are romance, yaoi, and omegaverse. Non-romance interests include psychology, sociology, philosophy, poetry, and general fantasy/sci-fi/horror/dystopian concepts/settings. Anyone 18+ is welcome, on the condition that you play nice. My journal and works are sex positive, queer oriented, and anti-censorship.

Fannish Interests: Fandom history, 90s media (Nicktoons and anime), the bestest video games (FFIX and Stardew Valley are my forever girls), and my guiltiest pleasure of all is WWE/Professional wrestling (it's farking yaoi is what it is, and there's plenty of yuri, too.) I've also dabbled in Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons.
I like to post about: Writing, things I've read that interest me, general thoughts, tips and tricks, meaningful encouragement, words that go beautifully together, and generally, anything people might find valuable.
About Me/Other Info: I can be moody (anxious, depressed, distracted, hyperfixated, you name it) and might go a few days without posting/responding to anything. As most of us do, I have my own struggles and demons to grapple with, so I'm not always in the mood for people. I'd rather channel these emotions into fiction than spew personal trauma.

Name: Sarah, but you can also call me Paperlady (or any nickname you like).

Age: 19 (turning 20 in November).

Location / Timezone: UTC+3.

I mostly post about:
Life updates, reflections, and general diary-type entries. I’m hoping to use Dreamwidth as a way to slow down, read more, and improve my writing through conversations and entries. Expect book notes, film thoughts, and sometimes just little pieces of my day. My posting schedule will probably be all over the place — sometimes a lot at once, sometimes nothing for a bit, and occasionally a steady routine when I get into a groove.

My hobbies are:
Baking, playing guitar, journaling, photography, sometimes art and editing. I love discovering new music and I get a little too invested in my playlists. I’m also trying to get deeper into reading and writing.

My fandoms / media loves are:
Coming-of-age stories, slow romances, and movies that ache in quiet ways (Before Sunrise, Only You, Romeo + Juliet 1996, etc.). Been getting into poetry (Rilke, Mary Oliver, Patti Smith) and a mix of alternative/indie music — Jeff Buckley, Radiohead, The Strokes, Smashing pumpkins, The Killers, etc.

I’m looking to meet people who:
Like exchanging thoughts and snippets of daily life, who enjoy books, films, and music, and who are here for conversation.

My posting schedule tends to be:
Erratic, distracted, then obsessed. Probably a couple times a week when I’m consistent.

Before adding me, you should know:
I deal with some anxiety when it comes to talking, but I’m hoping this space helps me through that. I don’t post anything graphic, though some of the media I love touches on heavier themes like heartbreak, mental health, or loss.

Dealbreakers:
I’m not interested in anyone who puts others down for who they are, cruelty, or being dismissive.

Spoilers for post Forgotten Battlefield camp scenes to Yellow Glade to Monoco's Station

The Bond system is interesting, what's the point of it?

The 'check on the others' camp conversation between Lune and Sciel ahhhh. Lune's parents were Expeditioners?? What number? And Maelle was able to write in the journal. Will the apprentices ever see it? Maelle is wearing Gustave's arm band, she gave hers to Verso. 😭

Alright I went back, leveled up more Pictos and decided to brave the Yellow Glade. It's so big! And there's that Lost Wood place with the record?? I can't believe there was yet another group that died by mushrooms. 😭 And the two Expeditioners who gave up, and the group who tried WEARING Nevrons and failed utterly...... I couldn't beat the Mime here. Oh yeah, and another giant Nevron in the background. Somehow that seems the least of everything else going on;; What is the point of the Auto Death Pictos?! I need higher tier weapon items already so I can level weapons to 10.

Oh! I found out that the first record we receive is a reversed version of a real song, Mask of Joy, and it's basically the Mask of Sorrow now.

I dipped into camp and had a check in, it was a conversation between Maelle and Lune where Maelle apologized for accusing the others of not caring. 😢 It was a really lovely and sad conversation, Lune said she could feel the ones they've lost through Chroma and encouraged Maelle to try feeling Gustave.

I have zero interest in challenges that are near impossible to win without hours of patience and practice so I'm skipping the Painting Worship challenges.

Monoco is so interesting! Of course Noco is his son... Verso's way of getting Monoco to go with them. 🤣

Ughh the game crashes when my PC gets really hot, which happened during the Monoco tutorial.

Healing well.

Summer bops

This bop was released today. I've listened to Pabllo Vitar before but not much NMIXX, should i get more into them?

My Summer Playlist (most repeats):
  • LE SSERAFIM - Different, Kawaii (+whole discography)
  • Hearts2Hearts - Style
  • KiiiKiii - Dancing Alone, Strawberry Cheesegame
  • ILLIT - bomb (album)
  • TWICE - This is For, Mars, Battitude (whole album really)
  • BLACKPINK - JUMP
  • TXT - Beautiful Strangers, Upside Down Kiss
  • Yves - White Cat, Soap (whole album)
  • Kesha - Boy Crazy ft. Jade
  • PinkPantheress - Fancy That (mixtape)
  • BIBI - EVE: ROMANCE (album)
  • horsegiirL - My Blunt My Rules
  • J-Hope - Killin' it Girl
  • BoA - Crazier
  • EXO - Cream Soda
  • Tame Impala - End Of Summer
  • JVKE - butterflies ft. Taehyun &Chaewon
  • d4vid - Always Love ft. Hyunjin
  • ENHYPEN - Bad Desire, Echoes, Shine On Me (whole discography really)
  • FKA twigs - Perfectly
  • f5ve - Television, Sugar Free Venom
  • Rebecca Black - Cygar Water Cyanide (+her whole album)
what i've been playing lately:
  • Ashnikko - Trinket
  • MNL48 - Oh My Pumpkin!
  • CORTIS - GO!, What You Want
  • Charli XCX - Lipgloss ft. Cupcakke
  • Charli XCX - Rewind ft. bladee
  • KAYTRANADA - AIN'T NO DAMN WAY! (album)
  • Sudan Archives - Freakalizer
  • Tyla - MR. MEDIA
  • Shygirl - Room 2 RMX (album)
So, lot of kpop and new releases.
Also just gave a first listen to ADÈLA's debut album "Provocateur". She was done dirty by Popstar Academy doc and the online hate definitely affected her and she does touch upon it in her songs "Machine Girl" and "FinallyApologizing". I really liked her album, she has her own vibe and i hope she can become successful!

If i had to pick one song i've been obsessed the most it definitely would be "Different" by LE SSERAFIM.
The second one would be "Soap" by Yves ft. PinkPantheress since it had Rebecca Black's sample of Sugar Water Cyanide.
Album/mixtape of the summer is definitely "Fancy That" by PinkPantheress, i even bought the CD+zine.

  • Good news: f5ve didn't disband! I was scared..
  • Few weeks ago i went to Flow Festival. I saw Air, FKA twigs, bladee, yung lean, Sudan Archives, and Charli XCX! It was an amazing experience. I also got to know more djs in my city and i have a new event lined up i'm excited about. It was a 3 day festival and i was really tired and overstimulated afterwards but it was worth it.
  • I got my grandpa's old record player! My old one didn't work so i've been playing my few records and planning my next steps in collecting, but this means i have to budget better and buy less kpop albums because it can be an expensive hobby...

hey yall.

 the name's jay.

an og LJ poster, moved here recently. missed the anonymity of it all.
i havent had to do my asl in so long, but im figuring the fact that i just called it asl tells you how old i am anyhow lol.

i live in the south, but i am not one of those kind of south people. i mostly just use yall a lot and say "hold my beer" sometimes.

alright. fandoms. hm. i guess im pretty into the marvel universes. have been since the first iron man came out. never really got into the comics, for no reason but i just havent. (i do read comics, mostly manga or graphic novels if i do.) im in love with Loki. love his porpoise. love his soul. not really into tom hiddleston himself, but ill watch his movies. (also ive gotten really into Hel from norse mythology, which is who Hela was loosely "based" on - they changed almost everything about who Hel actually is, but thats another post all together.) the entirety of guardians of the galaxy is the best thing ever. the epcot ride is the epitome of perfect. god its so good. uh, my favorite author is neil gaiman. i think his works are very visual and simple. keeps my wandering mind focused.

other than that, im really into thinking. there is no box. there never has been. i enjoy conversations about ideas and constructs and ghosts and time and whatever else. im usually the 'weird friend' of the group they shake their head at and go "thats jay".

im the one at a party in the kitchen 9 beers deep holding a cat talking at strangers about why the watch in 'Somewhere In Time' never existed lol

in irl i am a DJ and host of event nights: trivia, name that tune, music bingo, and any kind of parties really. one of my favorites was a 70s/80s/90s dance party. the playlist was fire. i also just recently joined a local coverband. we play mostly 60s/70s funky dancey music.

so. if you feel interested, add me (or i guess its call subscribe on here. which threw me off) and ill add you back.
more the merrier

It wasn't related to the pool or my heart! I don't know completely what's going on, I think I pulled a muscle, but I also had abnormal kidney readings. Definitely some pain still. It scared me with placement that it might be a hernia, so I went to check it out. The hospital staff was great.

AO3 Celebrates 9 Million Registered Users

Nine Million Users

What is better than having eight million passionate, dedicated users? Having nine million, of course! That's right, the Archive of Our Own (AO3) has recently reached nine million registered users! Thanks a million (or rather, nine million!) to every member of our community for making this success possible.

Some of you have likely noticed that AO3 is occasionally—and temporarily— unavailable due to site maintenance. However, if you prepare yourself in advance, you don't need to be deprived of content!

The best way to prepare yourself for maintenance (both scheduled and unscheduled) is to download works in advance to tide you over until the site is accessible again. You can find instructions on how to download content from AO3 in our FAQs! Works are downloadable in several formats — AZW3, EPUB, MOBI, PDF, and HTML — letting you enjoy reading across devices: desktop, mobile devices, or even eReaders. Whether the site is temporarily down or you're offline, having works downloaded means that you can always enjoy your favorite works!

Once again, thank you for your continued support of AO3 and for helping us grow each and every day. We look forward to celebrating many more achievements with you in the future!
